How To Read Condition Grades For Pre-Owned Luxury Bags

Condition is one of the biggest factors in pre-owned luxury bag value. A clear condition record helps buyers understand the exact item, not just the model name.

Why Condition Language Matters

Two bags with the same brand, model, color, and size can feel very different in person. Wear on corners, handles, glazing, hardware, lining, straps, and structure can affect price, collectability, and long-term satisfaction.

Excellent Condition

Excellent condition generally means minimal visible wear, strong structure, clean interior, and only minor marks under normal inspection. It does not always mean factory-new or unused.

Very Good Condition

Very good pieces may show light to moderate signs of use, such as small corner wear, faint leather marks, gentle interior wear, light patina, or minor hardware scratches.

Good Condition

Good condition bags can still be desirable, especially for rare or discontinued pieces. Wear is more visible and may include rubbing, shape softening, patina, interior marks, hardware wear, or signs of careful repair.

Fair Condition

Fair condition pieces require the most careful review. They may have heavier wear or functional considerations and should be listed only when the condition is clearly documented.

What Buyers Should Ask For

  • Clear photos of corners, handles, base, straps, hardware, lining, and closure areas.
  • Notes on odor, stickiness, glazing, repair history, and structure.
  • Included accessories such as dust bags, boxes, cards, straps, locks, keys, or receipts.
  • Authentication or quality-control documentation available for the exact item.

The Crest Vault Standard

We review each listed bag for condition, function, visible wear, accessories, and pre-shipment consistency. If an item does not meet our boutique standard or has unresolved concerns, we decline it.
